The Turtle Lake School District staff understands that the safety and well-being of our students is our main priority. As a district, we take many steps to improve mental health, social and emotional behavior support, and general student support. We believe that together each stakeholder needs to do his/her part to both identify and support each other through all of life’s challenges.
As a District we:
-
Work with Northlakes Community Clinic to provide a therapist at the school.
-
Provide all students access to a guidance counselor.
-
Promote the Laker Way and work together as a team to provide the best atmosphere possible.
-
Develop proactive steps to ensure we do not only identify but also support families in all types of situations.
-
Provide a backpack program for families to have hot meals on weekends and holiday breaks.
-
Conduct lessons to address bullying and mental health issues in our Guidance classes.
-
Work with the Polk County Mental Health task force to teach our staff and 8th graders the QPR (Question, Persuade Refer) training for suicide prevention.
