Two incredible Laker students, Gunnar and Jacob, were nominated and accepted into the NextUp League through our Vocational Skills Class curriculum. This league recognizes students who go above and beyond in developing their work experience skills.
Jacob and Gunnar have worked jobs around the school as well as at the Turtle Lake Library. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication to the roles they are assigned! 💛❤️

Business Law Class Goes to Jail?!?! 🚓 🚨
The Business Law class took a field trip to the Barron County Justice Center to witness the law in action 🏛️ They started with a tour of the jail, where they visited the control room and spoke with corrections officers. 👮♂️
From the jail, they moved on to the courthouse, where Judge Lawton was presiding. ⚖️ The students observed intake from the jury box, which included procedural law, assigning attorneys, and rescheduling hearings. 📜✍️
A great experience seeing the legal system firsthand! 👏 🤩

Students simulated life as 25-year-olds, managing jobs, salaries, bills, savings, and unexpected expenses, all while learning the importance of budgeting and planning for financial success. 📊 💵

Laker students Alyah L'Esperance and Gretchen Molls attended the UWEC Middle Level Honors Choir on January 7. 🎶🤩 These outstanding Lakers spent the day singing with over 400 students from more than 20 schools! 🎤 The day culminated with a concert in UWEC’s Gantner Hall.
