On November 5th, author Mat Heagerty visited Turtle Lake Elementary to share his story and creativity with our students! π Mat is the author of Lumberjackula (on this yearβs Battle of the Books list!) and several other graphic novels. He spoke about his journey from a struggling dyslexic student to a published author. πͺ
He encouraged students to embrace mistakes, accept help, work as a team, and advocate for themselves, all while showing how a graphic novel comes to life through live illustrations based on student ideas! π¨ποΈ
ππ¬ Fourteen lucky students even got to have lunch and a special Q&A with Mat in the IMC! β‘οΈ Swipe to see the three awesome drawings our Turtle Lake students created with Mat! Youβll love seeing their ideas come to life! π
Weβre so grateful to Mat for visiting Turtle Lake and inspiring our young authors and artists to keep creating, learning, and dreaming big! ππ’β€οΈ
