Title I is a federally funded program designed to provide tutorial/supplemental aid in the areas of reading, language arts, and/or math. The purpose of the program is to improve the educational opportunities of qualifying students by helping them succeed in the regular classroom. Title I instruction varies from student to student and from class to class. Some students will come to the Title I room for assistance and others will be aided in their classroom.
Title I placement is based on three main factors: STAR Reading/Math, Fountas and Pinnell reading levels, PALS, and teacher referral. Criteria for newer students to the school may be different.
The Wisconsin Public of Instruction website contains more information concerning the Title I program. That website is found at https://dpi.wi.gov/title-i
